Hobby English in Japan
Requirements
- You must be able to get a Working Holiday visa – IEP will assist you with this!
- You must have skills in activities like gymnastics, sports, music, dance and theatre
What will you be doing on the Hobby English program?
- Working at a club or similar organisation, doing activities in English to help children learn in a fun environment!
- Activities could be gymnastics, dance, football, theatre, and music
Hours of work and pay rate
You have the choice of working part time (20-30hrs) or full time (40hrs), depending on the company.
Salary usually starts at 1200JPY/hr for a 1-2 month training period, and then increases to around 1300JPY/hr.
Accommodation with Hobby English
Accommodation is not usually included as part of the job package for Hobby English. Your salary should be enough to ensure you can pay your rent and live comfortably.
You always have the option of staying in the World Unite Sharehouse in Tokyo (dependent on availability). World Unite can also assist you with finding long term accommodation.
What does the Hobby English program cost?
You can add the Hobby English option to your Work and Travel Japan program for an additional EUR 600.
Can I choose where I work?
All Hobby English placements are in Tokyo.
Do I have to interview for the job?
Yes, you will have to interview for your job. Our partner organisation will coach you and provide advice you you can impress the employer. You will need to provide our partner organisation with a resume/cv (with a photo), and a video of you demonstrating your skills.
How long is the contract?
Contracts are usually for a few months, often 6 month – 1 year.
